Exploiting Multi-platform Content

Friday, 16 October 2009 | BOOK IT

Content
An introduction to the impact of multi-platform delivery for media workers. This one-day course will give learners practical experience of team-work and collaboration, introducing them to planning and workflow, the fragmentation of audiences and the need to assess how best to interpret ideas or themes for different platforms and different audiences.

Who should attend
Media freelances and those preparing to become media freelances confused by the demands of the new multi-platform environment who want to know how best to develop their skills.

Qualifications
This is not a technical course, but one which requires a basic appreciation of digital media and the critical differences between formats or platforms. A good knowledge of at least one platform will help, but more important is preparedness to think creatively and work collaboratively.

Expected learning outcomes
Learners will understand the distinctions between different media platforms and how best to adapt ideas to suit each of them and their audiences. This will involve learning the principles of team working, audience research and workflow.

About the FEU

The Federation of Entertainment Union acts as a forum for exchanging ideas and information between the TUC affiliated unions in media and entertainment and co-ordinates campaigns on issues of common concern.

The FEU has three specialist committees:

  • Training
  • Equalities
  • The Olympics

It aims to help specialist officials to work closely together while preventing duplication. It is also helpful for those bodies with which we deal individually, in that it provides a joint forum for the likes of Offcom and the BBC to meet and consult with all the relevant unions at single meeting.
